In a similar way to reading, writing is also good for us

as human beings. Research has even been done showing health benefits accruing from the pastime. We write to clarify our understanding, record our experiences and to fulfil our need to communicate with the world. Writing may be an exciting creative adventure or merely a means by which we state our opinion clearly. Writing a book may be considered the most substantial form of writing and writing a novel the most creative type of book. But whatever the form writing takes, there is always that joy underlying its ultimate purpose.
Writing is another editing tool I use to promote my business. Not only do I benefit from the experience of writing, I have far more credibility as an editor if I am aware of the practical issues effecting many writers. Writing this website has been the task I have set myself during the past one to two years. This task may be small compared to writing a book, however, I can relate to the concept of writer’s block and the thoughts of despair that can consume a writer: Is what I’m writing important? Will anyone care?! I can say editors and reviewers have been invaluable to me in overcoming these obstacles.
And I’ve been assisted time and again by my love for writing. I find the process of writing something down goes a long way towards making it real and more concrete. Indeed, a book can be something of great substance and value. Often the culmination of the work of many years, interestingly, I have heard it compared to the construction of a building. A building can house residents or occupants for centuries, providing a foundation and place of shelter from which they can prosper in their lives. Similarly, a book can provide meaningful structures in the form of ideas, themes and characters that tangibly support those reading and understanding its content.
